Learn to become a driving Instructor

Course Fees: £1,995 (Free initial assessment) Fees can be paid in full or in three instalments
The ADI qualifying examination is in three parts:
- Theory – a multiple choice section and a video hazard perception test
- Instructor Technique – eyesight test followed by a practical test of driving technique
- Instruction Ability – a practical test of the ability to teach
You must pass all three parts of the examination in this order and must complete the whole process within two years of passing the theory test.
Part 1 Theory
This is a computerised touch screen examination lasting 90 minutes and consists of 100 questions split into the following four categories;
- Road procedure
- Trafiic signs and signals, car control, pedestrians, mechanical knowledge
- Driving test, disabilities, law
- Publications,instructional techniques
The Hazard perception test follows with 14 clips lasting one minute, the test contains 15 scored hazards with a potential to score up to 5 marks per hazard.
Part 2 Driving Technique
At the start of the test you will be asked questions on basic vehicle safety including everyday checks.
The test will last for 60 minutes and you must drive to a high standard of competence, demonstrating the principles of eco-safe driving, and a well planned positive, progressive drive, adhering to and attaining national speed limits when safe and where possible.
Part 3 Instructional Ability
The test is in two parts each of which lasts 30minutes. You must pass both parts.
You will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge and ability by giving practical driving instructions to the examiner who will take the role of the pupil. The examiner will choose two options that of a novice or partly trained pupil, a pupil at test standard or a qualified driver undertaking driver development training.
All learning materials are provided along with a vehicle for training.
